After two years of blogging, I’m closing up shop. It’s been rewarding but now that I have Dexter, my priorities have shifted. I’m rather short on extra time nowadays so if it comes to working on blog stuff or spending time with my family, my family wins. Maintaining a blog and all the back end stuff that goes along with that has become stressful rather than fun. It doesn’t bring me joy so I’m Marie Kondo ing it.
I used to love coming up with new recipes, staging the photos, editing them, and creating pins for them. It was a creative outlet that I enjoyed tremendously but over the past few months that love has fizzled. I loved taking pictures to share on here and Instagram, both fitness and non-fitness related. I didn’t mind spending a little extra time in the locker room after a workout, getting a good selfie but now I just want to get home and back to my life. I spent SO MUCH time on Instagram. Like soooo much time. I enjoyed connecting with people I would’ve never otherwise met; it’s pretty cool to connect with people on the other side of the world. Over time though it really hit home for me how frivolous social media was and I realized I no longer enjoyed it. I thought, what’s the point, this is meaningless stuff. Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things how many followers I have or likes on a picture? Of course not. I can’t tell you how liberating it is to not care about Instagram anymore, how nice it is to live in the moment and enjoy real life.
If you follow me on Instagram, my account will probably focus more on my personal life rather than fitness and food. That stuff is still very much a part of my life so there will still probably be a little bit of it. I’ve loved connecting with people through the blog and on Instagram so if you have any fitness/food questions or want advice feel free to reach out! Just because I’m not blogging anymore doesn’t mean I’m not interested in you.
The website will still be up for about a year and a half, maybe more, so feel free to continue using it as a resource for workouts and healthy recipes!
